With just one preseason game left, Dallas Cowboys fans are starting to get some real answers on who should make the team and who should be sent packing.
Undrafted wide receiver Traeshon Holden is someone fans would love to see on the roster. While Holden is one of the five or six best receivers on the team, Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram dropped a hard truth about the rookie's roster chances on 105.3 The Fan.
While Harris thinks the Cowboys will keep six receivers, he says that Holden is not the special teams maestro that he needs to be to make the team as the final WR.
"He's looked good at camp, he's had his moments when he gets in the preseason, but this kid does not have special teams experience...I expect him to be practice squad for probably at least a year, and then maybe this time next year, he's ready to take a step forward in the special teams department."
Cowboys will have a tough time getting undrafted WR Traeshon Holden on the 53-man roster
Even though the WR battle is far from over thanks to Jonathan Mingo's PCL injury that's expected to sideline him 4-6 weeks, it looks like Holden is still going to fall behind CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, KaVontae Turpin, Jalen Tolbert and Jalen Brooks in the final pecking order.
Mingo will likely make the 53-man roster and be placed on injured reserve to start the year. He's shined throughout camp and has often been more consistent than Tolbert. However, his absence creates a temporary spot and that will probably go to Ryan Flournoy over Holden.

Flournoy has an edge in the special teams department and he's the Cowboys' best blocking receiver, which would ship Holden off the 53-man roster. The good news is that Holden can still maintain a spot on the practice squad to continue pushing the wideouts in front of him to get better.
There's no doubt Holden has made waves as an undrafted player, but he simply has too much to overcome in front of him while also lacking the special teams experience, which is crucial to earning one of those final spots.
Even though Holden might end up getting the short end of the stick, Cowboys fans don't have to worry about saying goodbye to him if he does end up making the practice squad.
The pressure would then be on Jalen Brooks to hold his spot, and if not, we could be seeing Holden play regular season football as soon as next year, if not sooner if more injuries hit the receiving corps.
