Leeds United have been rocked by the news that captain Ethan Ampadu is set to be out of action until after the first international break of the season.
Ampadu required treatment for an ankle injury sustained in the second half of Monday's win over Everton following a heavy challenge by Tim Iroegbunam. The captain looked in some discomfort but managed to complete the rest of the match as the Whites prevailed 1-0 thanks to a controversial penalty from substitute Lukas Nmecha.
Speaking at this press briefing, boss Daniel Farke said: "It's bad news (on Ampadu). He will be out at least until the international break.
"He's a tough boy. He will miss the next three games including cup game.
"I hope to have him back the other side of the international break. It's a blow for us that he will miss the upcoming games.
"(It's) Not ideal. He's out captain and a very important player. We will have to find some solutions."
New signings Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor could be included in the matchday squad as the Whites look to push on after beating Everton in their first match back in the Premier League. Switzerland international Okafor has joined United from AC Milan for a fee believed to be in the region of £18m. The 25-year-old is capable of playing across the front line, either on the wings or as a central striker.
"He [Okaford] is a perfect age and has played for two big clubs," said Farke. "He has got high potential and we will provide him with all the backing and stage to find a bit more consistency. If he is focused, he has the skills to make an impact."
On the possibility of Calvert-Lewin being involved, he said: "We will see on Dominic. He has missed a lot of team training. Every day is important. He makes a good impression and he is well integrated. Fitness, good shape. Great character."
