Vikings trade DT Harrison Phillips to Jets for 2026 6th-round draft pick

After three seasons as a Viking, defensive tackle and team captain Harrison Phillips is being traded in a surprise move to the New York Jets. A team source confirmed the move to KSTP Sports. The Vikings receive a 2026 6th-round draft pick from the Jets and a potential swap of 7th-round picks in the 2027 draft.

Phillips signed an extension last fall that had him under contract through the 2026 season. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Vikings will continue to pay half of Phillips’ 2025 salary.

The trade clears salary cap space for the Vikings, suggesting a companion move could follow to bring in a new player before the start of the season.

Phillips was in line to start at nose tackle between offseason acquisitions Javon Hargrave and Jonathan Allen, as the Vikings accrued some depth along the defensive line. Several younger players have been solid in training camp: Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, Jalen Redmond, Elijah Williams and Levi Drake Rodriguez.

In addition to his contributions as a player on the field and a leader in the Vikings locker room, Phillips was deeply involved in charity efforts ranging from his Harrison’s Playmakers organization to participating in many of the team’s community service projects.
