Chelsea and Manchester United have been locked into talks over the future of Alejandro Garnacho for some time. The two parties are working on the terms of a move that would see the left-winger move across England to London for Champions League football. According to new reports, United made an ambitious request during negotiations.

The Request
According to Ben Jacobs, the Red Devils brought up Andrey Santos during the talks. The insinuation is that they would sign the midfielder while the Blues would get Garnacho. This was rejected and Santos was deemed not for sale. Thus, the two parties have continued hashing out details of a move for the left-winger.

The Argentine is only 21 years of age but has almost 100 Premier League appearances to his name. His youth and experience have caused a difference in valuations between the two teams. Ruben Amorim’s side rightly hold a high value in the attacker who has 48 goal contributions to his name at the senior club level.
Andrey Santos Not for Sale
Despite that, the Blues outright turned down any idea of adding their Brazilian midfielder to the equation. The 21-year-old has been around the first team squad since his loan ended, featuring as a starter when needed and usually coming off the bench to help rest Enzo Fernandez.

He impressed last term while on loan at Strasbourg, where his performances saw him deemed a “monster”. He was a commanding force in midfield as the team secured European football under Liam Rosenior, making 34 appearances across all competitions, providing 17 goal contributions in that time.
He has even been capped twice by Brazil despite his youth. It is clear to see why Chelsea didn’t want to part with the midfielder, his potential is sky high after impressing in both his native country and Ligue 1, he is now being slowly embedded into the Blues’ first team where he’s looked solid.
