**We are getting closer and closer to deadline day, and the futures of some high-profile names are still up in the air.**

Brinkmanship between clubs can result in negotiations stalling, and it can lead to certain players being left in limbo. Usually, though, a solution is found.

Read below as we list 5 transfers that we think could still happen before the window shuts on September 1st.

1) Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea

--------------------------------

This story has been rumbling on for weeks now. It’s very clear what the situation is.

Garnacho wants to join Chelsea but the Blues don’t want to match Manchester United’s asking price.

It looks like they will make the Red Devils sweat as long as possible to force them into lowering their demands.

United don’t really hold the cards either, with it being clear all summer that head coach Ruben Amorim won’t reintegrate the player into his squad.

2) Marc Guehi to Liverpool

--------------------------

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish kind of gave the game away a couple of weeks ago when he said his club captain would not be allowed to leave on a free transfer.

With Guehi’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, the Eagles have two choices – sell now or offload him for an extremely discounted price in January.

Liverpool have held talks about signing the 25-year-old but they are not willing to match Palace’s asking price, which is said to be in excess of £40m.

You do feel that some compromise will be found between now and September 1st.
