Boost for Aston Villa as player turns down lucrative Saudi Arabian offer

Aston Villa have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Jaydee Canvot, as he’s turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who report that an unnamed Saudi club made a significant offer to the Toulouse talent.

They say that the 19-year-old central defender turned down the offer, as he prefers to pursue an interesting sporting project at this moment in his career. He was seemingly not interested in the financial benefits of such a move.

FM now say that Aston Villa are still in the running to snatch him from Toulouse, and the final days of the transfer window should be lively for them as a result.

Aston Villa first showed an interest in the youngster last month, with it reported that they were at the front of the queue for him at the time.

It was believed that they wanted a deal done quickly but that hasn’t happened. A report two days ago insisted that they are preparing a second offer to get the defender.

They may now be encouraged to push things forwards after Canvot shut the door on a move to Saudi Arabia and closed off any potentially tricky competition in the process.
