Rose will join Jerry Sloan (No. 4), Bob Love (No. 10), Michael Jordan (No. 23), and Scottie Pippen (No. 33). Additionally, the NBA retired Bill Russell's No. 6 across the league following his passing in 2022.
Selected No. 1 overall in the 2008 NBA Draft, Rose quickly became a cornerstone for the Bulls, earning Rookie of the Year honors and spending eight seasons with the team.
A three-time NBA All-Star (2010–2012), he also became the youngest player ever to win the NBA MVP Award in 2011, earning All-NBA First Team honors the same season.
Rose led the Bulls to the best record in the NBA (62–20) in 2010–11, and helped the team secure the top record in the Eastern Conference for three consecutive seasons (2010–2012).
He also played a key role in seven straight playoff appearances from 2008 to 2015.
In 406 regular-season games for his hometown team, Rose averaged 19.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.2 assists. He ranks third in assists per game and ninth in scoring average in Bulls history.
Rose is one of only two Bulls players—alongside Michael Jordan in 1988–89—to record over 2,000 points and 600 assists in a single season, finishing the 2010–11 season with 25.0 points and 7.7 assists per game.
During his time in Chicago, the team went 245–161 (.603) with him on the court.
