Fabrizio Romano: Man Utd offered deal to sign 'world-class' star after 'extremely violent'…

Manchester United could be offered an opportunity to sign Marseille star Adrien Rabiot before the transfer deadline, GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

The Old Trafford side remain on the lookout for a new central midfielder with 10 days left in the market and are reportedly expected to be made aware of Rabiot’s availability.

Marseille have transfer-listed the former Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus midfielder following what they describe as ‘unacceptable behaviour in the dressing room’ after their 1-0 defeat to Rennes on Friday.

The French club have decided to sell both Rabiot and winger Jonathan Rowe following an 'extremely violent' altercation, which reportedly saw both players exchange insults before the dispute turned physical.

Rabiot joined Marseille as a free agent in September and was a regular under Roberto De Zerbi last term, scoring 10 goals and providing five assists in 31 appearances in all competitions.

Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, revealed that Rabiot is expected to be offered to several European clubs following Marseille’s decision to part ways.

The 'world-class' French international could be available for as low as €15–20m (£13–17m), although no concrete talks with Man United have taken place:

“Many of those who are close to Adrien Rabiot’s camp are proposing the opportunity to offer Rabiot to clubs, for example, also to Manchester United.

“He's a player who was a target for Man United many years ago, and in recent years was never close.

“At the moment, guys, I'm not hearing anything concrete on Manchester United in negotiations for Rabiot.

“He is going to be offered to Manchester United and many other clubs as an opportunity for 15, 20 million euros.

“But at the moment, again, it’s still an open situation. Let's see what's going to happen there.”

Rabiot joined Marseille on a two-year deal last September, after spending five seasons with Italian giants Juventus, where he won four major titles, including Serie A in 2019/20.

He is also a five-time Ligue 1 champion, having won the title in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019 with PSG, and a four-time French Cup winner.

Man United missed out on their top target Carlos Baleba last week, after learning of Brighton’s hefty demands for the 21-year-old Cameroonian.

The Red Devils are expecting further transfer activity before the deadline, with several outgoings likely, including the departures of Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund.
