England star set for medical ahead of£60 million Arsenal move

Arsenal will hope to keep up their strong start to the new Premier League season when they host Leeds United on Saturday.

The Gunners welcome the Whites to The Emirates after defeating Manchester United 1-0 in their season opener last weekend, with Riccardo Calafiori netting the only goal of the game at Old Trafford.

Mikel Arteta will expect to see his side double their points tally against newly-promoted Leeds, who beat Everton in their first game.

In the meantime, it appears that the Gunners are closing in on the statement signing of an England international.

Fabrizio Romano claims that Eberechi Eze will miss Crystal Palace’s Europa Conference League play-off tie on Thursday night as he is set to undergo a medical before joining Arsenal.

The journalist claims that the Englishman has spoken with Palace boss Oliver Glasner and it has been decided that he will not feature against Norwegian side Fredrikstad at Selhurst Park on Thursday.

Eze, 27, has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal’s North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur for much of the summer, but Romano claims that he is now set to complete a £60 million move to the club that he supported as a child.

The midfielder’s last appearance for Palace came on Sunday, when the Eagles held Chelsea to a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge.

Eze thought he had put the visitors ahead with a stunning free-kick in West London, but VAR intervened to deny the goal.

Having joined Palace from Queens Park Rangers in 202o, Eze has now scored 40 goals and provided 28 assists in 169 games for the South London side across all competitions.

Romano claims that he will undergo a medical before completing his move to The Emirates to join Mikel Arteta’s squad.
