Newcastle United reportedly only £5m short of club's asking price for 14-goal striker -…

**Newcastle United are pushing hard to find at least one striker who will join the club before the transfer deadline on 1st September.**

It's starting to look more and more likely that Alexander Isak will stay at Newcastle for at least the first half of the season. We're not sure how that's going to look, whether he'll be forced to sit out for four and a half months or if he'll be brought back into the team.

Regardless of what happens with the Sweden star, though, a striker is required one way or another, and while Brentford have started playing games over Yoane Wissa, Newcastle have started looking elsewhere.

Wolverhampton Wanderers' star, Jorgen Strand Larsen, is a target that seems to have risen to the top in recent days.

Newcastle and Wolves aren't far apart on Jorgen Strand Larsen's valuation

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Strand Larsen bagged 14 goals in a woeful Wolves side last season, earning himself a permanent deal at Molineux this summer, but they risk losing him already, Newcastle pressing ahead with a £60 million bid.

The [Express and Star](https://soundcloud.com/user-855154020/episode-396-deadline-day-fast-approaching)'s Nathan Judah has also claimed that the two clubs are currently only £5 million apart on their valuation, suggesting that a deal could be struck.

> “There is no deal to be made at the moment, but when you think of that kind of money and them being apart, those are normally gaps that are closed one way or another.”

Jorgen Strand Larsen is yet to convince some Newcastle fans

-----------------------------------------------------------

It has also been claimed, however, that Wolves would want to sign two strikers if they lost Strand Larsen, and that's something that could hamper the deal, as if anyone knows how hard it is to find even one striker, it's Newcastle.

There are some fans who are unconvinced by Strand Larsen, and at over £60 million, we get their reservations, but a striker who scored 14 goals in that Wolves team last season must have something about him.

Time is running out for Newcastle, and it's all Hail Mary plays for the Magpies now.
