Report: Man Utd 'will bid' to sign 'phenomenal' star, United chiefs 'convinced' they'll sign him

Manchester United are expected to submit a bid for Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens ahead of the transfer deadline, according to TEAMtalk.

The Old Trafford side are on the lookout for a new shot-stopper in the final 10 days of the market and could soon step up interest in one of their long-standing targets.

While head coach Ruben Amorim has reportedly failed to convince United chiefs to go for Aston Villa star Emiliano Martinez, the Red Devils have not ruled out a late move for Lammens, who has been scouted extensively in recent months.

United are believed to have recently touched base about the Belgium international’s situation and are convinced they would win the race to sign him.

Lammens has also been tracked by Inter Milan but has recently given indications that he would be interested in a move to Old Trafford to compete for the starting spot between the posts.

According to TEAMtalk, Man United ‘will bid’ for Lammens in the coming days, having shifted some of their available funds towards signing a new goalkeeper following the Carlos Baleba blow.

United eyed the 21-year-old midfielder as their top transfer target ahead of the deadline but were put off by Brighton’s hefty demands, reaching around £120m.

Lammens, who joined Antwerp from Brugge in the summer of 2023, became the Belgian club’s primary goalkeeper last season, making 44 appearances across all competitions and keeping 10 clean sheets.

The ‘phenomenal’ goalkeeper only became Antwerp’s first-choice last season and helped them finish fifth in the Belgian Pro League standings.

He has started all four of Antwerp’s league games in 2025/26, overseeing three draws and a win, while conceding once in each appearance.

The 23-year-old is under contract until June 2027, having signed a four-year deal upon his arrival from Brugge in 2023.

Man United have splashed out heavily on new arrivals this summer, with Benjamin Sesko the latest to join in a reported £74m deal from RB Leipzig.

The Red Devils have also welcomed Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, with the trio all featuring in their 1-0 home loss to Arsenal at the weekend.
