Newcastle United's search for attacking reinforcements continues as we head into the final days of the summer transfer window window - with the season now underway.
Even disregarding the situation surrounding Alexander Isak, Eddie Howe is keen to add to his options up front before the September 1 deadline. With Isak currently not available amid the speculation over his future, and the summer departure of Callum Wilson, Anthony Gordon was employed in a central role last weekend's opener with Aston Villa.
The match ended in a 0-0 draw, despite Villa being down to 10 men for the final 25 minutes. Howe will be hoping that movement in the window means that he has more options to call upon over the campaign.
One of the players linked with a move to St James' Park is Chelsea striker, Nicolas Jackson. The 24-year-old scored 10 goals in the Premier League last season, but Newcastle are not the only club linked with an interest.
Here's the latest on a potential move for the Senegal international;
Chelsea give green light
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has given the green light for clubs to make a move for Jackson this summer, confirming that the striker will not be part of the squad for the Premier League clash against West Ham, despite him returning from suspension.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Maresca said: "He [Jackson] is available, but he's not going to be part of the squad.
"We have two strikers, two players in that position, and also we know something can happen before the transfer window closes. No idea [if a move away is close]. I prefer to be focused on training sessions and preparing for the game. I don't know."

Competition from Aston Villa
As well as Newcastle, Aston Villa are another club that are linked with an interest in the striker this summer. Both clubs will reportedly be offered the chance to sign Jackson for £60million, in the final days of the transfer window.
Villa head coach Unai Emery worked with Jackson when the duo were with Spanish side Villarreal. If the Midlands side do make a move for Jackson, it could have a domino impact on the future of Ollie Watkins, who has also been linked with a move to St James' Park.
Loan option
Chelsea could, reportedly, be open to sanctioning a loan move for Jackson this summer, but they will reportedly demand a loan fee of £10million if they do so. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, clubs showing an interest in the striker are saying that a loan deal with an obligation at the end of it may be possible under the right conditions.
The Blues' valuation was initially £80million, but it's thought it could drop below £70million.
