Leeds United transfer latest as £35m move made amid shock Illan Meslier update

Leeds United have reportedly offered Illan Meslier to Como - as the Italian club are said to be short on goalkeepers.

Meslier has not featured in a Leeds matchday squad since their penultimate pre-season friendly this summer. Lucas Perri becoming the team's new number one has pushed him down to third choice, effectively ending any hopes of playing this season.

Karl Darlow usurped the 25-year-old for the final seven matches of last season and is now backing up the Brazilian. Meslier, meanwhile, is someone who several clubs are credited with an interest in signing this month before the transfer window closes.

Il Giorno, an Italian newspaper, claims Como are one of those and reports that the Whites want just €5 million (£4.33m) for the goalkeeper. Meslier, however, is said only to want a move there if it means becoming their new first-choice, a situation their head coach, Cesc Fabregas, is evaluating.

Como have also reputedly enquired about Venezia's Filip Stankovic. Both players appear to be backup options to Inaki Pena of Barcelona, whom the Italian club are still working on signing despite delays to the deal because of numerous problems arising.

At the opposite end of the pitch, Leeds have reportedly enquired about Ermedin Demirovic. Nottingham Forest are the other Premier League club also said to have done so recently.

Sky Germany describes Demirovic as one to watch until transfer deadline day. Stuttgart reportedly want to keep their striker, who is still under contract for another three years, and he reputedly will only consider what they call top offers.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international scored 17 times for Stuttgart last season as they won the German Cup after signing him from Augsburg in a £22million deal. Kicker have previously reported that their asking price is now over £35million just 12 months later.
