Crystal Palace have made a major decision over Marc Guehi amid continued interest from Liverpool. The Reds have been heavily linked with signing the England international this summer as they look to strengthen their centre-back options.
Liverpool have been in talks with Palace over a deal to sign Guehi this summer. The Eagles captain is out of contract at the end of the season and could leave Selhurst Park on a free transfer if a move is not agreed this window.
Guehi has been a key player for Palace since his arrival from Chelsea in the summer of 2021. Palace are taking on Fredrikstad in their Conference League play-off fixture on Thursday night and have made a decision that may be of interest to Liverpool.
Palace boss Oliver Glasner has included Guehi in the starting line-up to face Fredrikstad this evening, with the defender also wearing the captain's armband. The decision has been made by Glasner despite Liverpool holding talks over a deal to sign Guehi this summer.
Palace have also chosen not to include Eberechi Eze in the squad for the clash against Fredrikstad. This is likely due to the playmaker being on the verge of completing a move to Arsenal in the coming days.
Guehi taking part in the Conference League for Palace could raise questions and concerns around a potential transfer to Liverpool. Even though the defender is taking part in a UEFA competition, the defender would still be able to participate in the Champions League this season if he was to sign for the Reds.
