Jordan Love is one of the most exciting young quarterbacks across the league, and some inside the NFL believe the Packers’ signal caller has MVP upside this season, but there are still critical areas he must improve.
Love is entering his third season as the Packers’ starter, alongside a receiving corps that has struggled mightily with dropped passes, but that might not be his biggest issue in 2025.
Packers’ Jordan Love Must Improve on Intermediate Passes

Love took a bit of a step back during the 2024 season, while navigating nagging injuries, but thanks to an improved supporting cast following the arrivals of rookie receivers Matthew Golden and Savion Williams could be primed to bounce back in a big way this season.
A big part of a Love revival would have to include improvement on short and intermediate throws over the middle of the field, as Pro Football Focus points out.
“If there is one thing Love could improve,” Dalton Wasserman writes for PFF. “It’s his ability to attack the intermediate level of the field. He ranked 39th out of 43 qualified quarterbacks in the rate of his throws going to the 10-to-19-yard range (16.2%) and just 35th in PFF passing grade on those plays.”
One way Love can make big strides on intermediate throws would be to continue to funnel more of the offense through the likes of Tucker Kraft and Luke Musgrave at tight end, and Williams’ arrival could herald more intermediate crossing routes and quick slants given his prowess after the catch.
For an offense that has in the past been built on the back of explosive plays in the vertical passing game, Love continuing to improve underneath could unlock the Packers’ full potential on offense.
