CALLUM DOYLE has joined Wrexham from Manchester City for an undisclosed fee.

The defender, who has reportedly been brought in for a fee which could rise to £8m, has signed a four-year contract until the end of the 2028-29 campaign.

The 21-year-old is a product of the City academy who has never played for the first team having spent the last four seasons out on loan.

An England Under-21 international, Doyle had his first taste of senior football with a year-long loan spell at Sunderland, who were then in League One, in 2021-22.

He spent the next three campaigns in the Championship with temporary spells at Coventry City, Leicester City and Norwich, getting more than 100 second tier appearances under his belt.

So far in his career, Doyle, who would give Wrexham a left-sided option in central defence, has made 158 club appearances in all competitions and scored two goals.

He made 23 appearances in Leicester's 2023-24 Championship title-winning campaign under Enzo Maresca.

On signing for Wrexham, Doyle told the club: “I’m buzzing to join the Club. I’ve been wanting a permanent move for some time now and I can’t wait to get started.

“I’ve been interested in the Club from afar and kept a close eye on the journey and now I’m excited to be a part of it.”

Wrexham, back in the second tier for the first time in 43 years after clinching a record-breaking three successive promotions, have now made 10 new signings so far this summer.

On Doyle’s signing, Reds boss Phil Parkinson said: “We’re delighted to welcome Callum to the Club. He’s a talented young player with a lot of Championship experience.

“We’re looking forward to him joining up with the squad and working with him.”
