Bleacher Report's Alex Kay named dealing quarterback Hendon Hooker the one trade the Detroit Lions should proposed to the Los Angeles Rams before the 2025 regular season.

The Detroit Lions have been patient with quarterback prospect Hendon Hooker. But that patience may finally be running out.

At least that’s what Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay argued should be happening for the Lions. On Thursday, Kay named dealing Hooker the one trade Detroit should proposed before the start of the 2025 NFL regular season.

Kay pitched the Lions send Hooker to the Los Angeles Rams for a seventh-round pick.

“The 27-year-old has struggled to find his footing with the club, and both sides could benefit from a fresh start,” wrote Kay.

“With Kyle Allen shaping up to the Detroit’s No. 2 QB this season, the Lions can safely move on from Hooker and try their third-string luck with an undrafted free agent or veteran castoff still lingering on the open market.

“Hooker could still have a modicum of trade value due to his draft status, though, and a team like the Rams could be desperate enough to roll the dice.”

Kyle Allen has been inconsistent at times this preseason. But Hooker has been less than stellar with extended opportunities this month.

In three exhibition games, Hooker has completed 16 of 29 passes (55.2%) for 117 yards. He’s averaged just a little more than four yards per pass with zero touchdowns and two interceptions.

Allen had two interceptions in his preseason debut on July 31. But since then, he’s completed 84% of his passes with four touchdowns and no picks.
