Newcastle United target dropped by manager amid speculation linking him with move to Tyneside

· 21 August 2025, 21:00

**Newcastle United are still huffing and puffing their way through the transfer market to find a suitable striker to come through the door at St James' Park.**

While Jorgen Strand Larsen and Yoane Wissa seem to be the two favoured options right now, there's still interest in Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson.

Chelsea had slapped an £80 million price tag on the striker they brought in for £32 million two years ago, but as the transfer deadline approaches, it's now expected they will climb down considerably on their asking price.

Now that Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Jackson will not be in the squad on Friday night as Chelsea take on West Ham, there's a feeling that there's a deal to be done.

Nicolas Jackson heading for a Chelsea exit?

Nicolas Jackson could be available for around £60 million

---------------------------------------------------------

[The Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/2098535/newcastle-transfer-news-nicolas-jackson-isak) has labelled Jackson as a £60 million target for Newcastle, but some outlets have previously mentioned that a deal could be done between £40 million and £50 million.

It's no secret we've been unmoved by the idea of signing Nicolas Jackson, but the more we've looked into him and seen what some Chelsea fans have had to say about him, we are warming to the idea.

There are plenty of Chelsea fans who believe Jackson hasn't been given a fair shot at the club and that he's way better than his performances suggest.

In Eddie Howe we trust

----------------------

Newcastle are no strangers to having those players that other fanbases don't see the value in, and Jackson could be such a player for Chelsea.

The way we look at it is that if Eddie Howe feels he's the right type of player to bring into the club, we're in no position to argue.

With just over a week of the window to go, we need to make a move quickly.
