Adding weapons around the reigning MVP Josh Allen is undoubtedly a goal for the Buffalo Bills organization.
With the Week 1 of the NFL season rapidly approaching, the trade market will be the best way to continue adding players and the Bills have been urged to make a move prior to their opening game.
Bleacher Report's Alex Kay has suggested that Buffalo should send a seventh-round pick in next year's draft to the Detroit Lions in exchange for wide receiver Tim Patrick.
"General manager Brandon Beane clearly understands the Bills need upgrades in the receivers room, as they recently signed Grant DuBose and have veteran Gabe Davis-who started his career with the club before an unsuccessful campaign with the Jacksonville Jaguars -- coming in for a visit following the release of Kaden Prather," Kay wrote.
Patrick was drafted by the Detroit Broncos in 2018 and spent the first four seasons of his career there before missing both the 2022 and 2023 seasons due to a torn ACL and torn achilles.
He eventually got back on his feet last season with the Detroit Lions, hauling in 33 catches for 394 yards and three touchdowns. Along with the regular season stats, Patrick added one catch for 22 yards in Detroit's lone postseason game.
Kay noted that even after a solid 2024 campaign, Detroit has a deep receiving core and may be willing to give up Patrick for less than it potentially should.
"Patrick likely wouldn't cost the cash-strapped Bills much, as Detroit has a logjam in the receiving corps and might be willing to move on from Patrick for cheap," he wrote.
With no clear No. 3 option behind Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir, Patrick could find more opportunities throughout the season with Buffalo than he'd be able to with Detroit.
