MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Jaguars 2025 Training Camp continued Thursday.
It was the 19th day of the first training camp under Head Coach Liam Coen, featuring a two-hour practice with the Miami Dolphins at the Dolphins' Baptist Heath Training Complex. Each day throughout camp, members of Jaguars Media – senior writer John Oehser, senior correspondent Brian Sexton, senior reporter/editor J.P. Shadrick and team reporter Kainani Stevens – will share an observation.
Here are Thursday's "campservations:"
John Oehser, Jaguars Senior Writer…
This was far from the Jaguars' cleanest practice of '25 camp, and quarterback Trevor Lawrence's post-practice description of the team's first "joint" practice under Head Coach Liam Coen as feeling "a little sloppy" felt a lot accurate. But while neither Lawrence nor Coen seemed thrilled with the offensive execution in a session that featured a few team periods, a lot of special teams and some specific situational work, Coen and multiple Jaguars players did seem pleased with the experience gained and the intensity shown in spots. Thursday's session started out notably warm before a post-practice shower, and tempers flew early – with Jaguars defensive end Travon Walker ending one one-on-one skirmish characteristically quickly, and with Jaguars running backs LeQuint Allen Jr. and Ja'Quinden Jackson taking on seemingly half the Dolphins' defensive roster in a particularly lengthy kerfuffle. These quickly turned into the normal nothingness of camp "fights," with Jaguars cornerback Jourdan Lewis – himself involved in another minor push and shove – saying afterward with a smile, "I think Coach Liam likes a little scuffle."
Added Lewis, "We had to get it in. I was happy guys were protecting each other and not letting guys fight for themselves. Being together, that's what it's about."
Bottom line: This wasn't the most productive joint practice you'll ever see, but it was at least some work against another team – and that was better than nothing as camp grinds to an end.
