The family is from Marietta.

Witnesses at the scene told officers the incident stemmed from a “door ding” that led to the suspect stabbing the victim multiple times. After the stabbing, the victim drove to a drugstore before being taken to a local hospital, according to police documents.

Brown was stopped and detained near U.S. 95 and Decatur Boulevard. The report indicated Brown was the front passenger in the vehicle and described him as 7 feet tall with abrasions on his knees and a bleeding face. He told officers, without being prompted, that “this was all over a door ding.”

The victim’s girlfriend told police the man had hit the driver’s side door, and the victim had left the vehicle to examine the damage, the report said. She told officers the man became immediately confrontational before the victim had said anything, telling him it was “just a bump.”

The victim slapped the SUV’s side mirror, prompting the man to turn around to fight, according to the girlfriend. The report indicated that, with the victim’s back turned, the man pulled an object from his right side. The girlfriend told police she saw the man stab the victim in the back, then multiple times in the abdomen.

The arrest report recounted accounts from several eyewitnesses who said they saw the incident. The victim was stabbed in the middle of the back, the upper right chest, suffered a defensive wound to his left hand, a slice wound that required surgery to remove part of his digestive system, eviscerated bowels, and a broken right rib. The arrest report listed the victim’s condition as critical.

Brown had a broken toe, scraped knees and an abrasion on his right cheek. He declined to be interviewed, the report said. Law enforcement officials described Brown as 7 feet tall and 300 pounds, and the victim as 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 160 pounds. Brown faces one count of attempted murder.
