GREEN BAY, Wis.—Seahawks linebacker Tyrice Knight did not participate in Thursday's joint practice with the Packers, but while he was sidelined for the practice, the day also brought positive news for the second-year linebacker.
"We got some great news today," Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said. "That's what I was referring to earlier in the week. Now we're activating the plan. We'll see how long it takes, but a really positive day on T-Knight front this morning."
Knight, who took over a starting job alongside Ernest Jones IV midway through last season, was sidelined by a knee injury earlier in camp, then Macdonald later revealed that Knight was dealing with a separate medical issue that was keeping him out.
"It's a health matter," Macdonald said, noting Thursday's update, "basically said, 'Hey, we're good to go to rock and roll.' So, positive.
"He can start working out. He hasn't worked out in a week, so we've got to be smart with him coming back."
Macdonald also had a positive update on outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, who did not take part in the joint practice, but did do a pre-practice workout in full pads with defensive coordinator Aden Durde. Nwosu, who came off the physically unable to perform list Sunday after passing his physical, has not returned to practice yet but is making progress, Macdonald said.
"We did an individual period here with AD before practice, fully padded," Macdonald said. "Looked great, felt great. This is the first time the guy's put on pads in almost a year, well, not almost a year, but this season, so great first day back, it looked positive and we will keep building it out from here."
Left tackle Charles Cross, who had surgery to repair a dislocated finger earlier in camp, continues to ramp up his practice participation, which on Thursday included work in 11-on-11 team drills.
"Charles, he wants to do everything, so we have a plan bringing him back and he wants to go. It's great to see him out there and doing his thing."
