Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has provided an update on Marc Guehi’s future amid strong interest from Liverpool.
The Reds have held talks with Palace over a potential deal for the England international.
Guehi is out of contract at the end of the season and could depart on a free if no agreement is reached this summer.
DaveOCKOP.com revealed back in March that Liverpool held talks with Marc Guehi’s representatives.
Since then, we have also revealed that the Premier League champions have reached an agreement on personal terms with the Englishman.
Liverpool are hopeful of closing the signing of the Palace skipper this week.
The Resd are now in the final stages with a medical being organised by the Merseyside giants.
Initially, Crystal Palace tried to hold out for £45million, but the final price is likely to be closer to a £40million package.
Assuming everything goes smoothly, Guehi could complete his switch to Anfield by the end of the week.
Guehi, who captained Palace in their Conference League play-off clash against Fredrikstad on Thursday, remains a key figure in Glasner’s side.
However, following the match, the Palace boss hinted that the defender could be on his way out of Selhurst Park.
He said: “We are very, very late to find replacements. I think we could behaved much better than we did.
“It’s not the best way to start the season. I think we are below the edge.
“If Marc [Guehi] leaves, maybe I will try my boots because I was a centre-back. We have to act. It’s Crystal Palace’s future and we need to add numbers.”
Oliver Glasner has, however, insisted that Crystal Palace must keep Guehi for the second leg of their UEFA Conference League play-off.
Glasner told Channel 5: “We have to [keep him]. Especially for the second leg.
“We have to keep him. If we want to compete in this competition, we need players.”
