It’s been months since the fans last saw Josh Allen take the field.
The reigning NFL MVP has yet to suit up for the Buffalo Bills in the preseason.
And according to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN, that won’t change for the finale:
“Bills HC Sean McDermott told reporters that QB Josh Allen will not play in Saturday night’s preseason finale vs. the Buccaneers, marking the first time in his NFL career that Allen will not play in the preseason,” Schefter posted on X.

The Bills will cap off their preseason with a matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Allen hasn’t sustained any type of injury, and he should be more than healthy and ready to roll for the season opener vs. the Baltimore Ravens.
He’s entering his eighth season in the league, so it’s not like he’s going to need a lot of reps to get tuned up for the season.
That’s why this shouldn’t be anything to be worried about, especially considering that he will roll into the season with the same offensive coordinator and most of the same core of offensive players from last season.
Allen is one of the best quarterbacks in the game, and he should be one of the odds-on candidates to take home the MVP award again this season.
Then again, that won’t mean much unless he finally leads his team to the mountaintop in the playoffs.
Allen and the Bills have stumbled upon Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs multiple times in the postseason, and they haven’t been able to get past Andy Reid’s team, despite Allen’s stellar play.
This news is certainly disappointing, as the fans always want to watch the best players take the field, but they’ll just have to wait a little longer.
