Bullet was fired into Chiefs coach Andy Reid's office in May 2024 while he was inside

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Multiple bullets were fired at the Kansas City Chiefs practice facility in May 2024 and one entered coach Andy Reid's office while he was inside, and while nobody was injured, authorities said Thursday the case remains open and under investigation.

The Kansas City Star, citing multiple sources, first reported late Wednesday that Reid was working alone in early May 2024 when a bullet fired from outside the building broke through glass and left a hole through the window and blinds. It got lodged in a wall between his bathroom and the entry door to his office. The team installed bulletproof glass afterward.

The Star reported two more bullets hit the facility, with one striking the third floor and another an outdoor air-conditioning unit. Few people in the organization knew about the incident, which is being investigated as an aggravated assault because the building was occupied at the time, Kansas City police said in a statement released Thursday.
