Jacob Parrish Looks Like The Corner The Bucs Envisioned Him To Be

August 22nd, 2025

Bucs CB Jacob Parrish knocks the ball away from Titans receiver Elic Ayomanor.

Joe is glad and honestly, a little bit scared that Bucs’ shotcallers in the personnel department are seeing the same thing in players that Joe has.

Joe typed from the combine in February that if the Bucs were to think of drafting a receiver, Ohio State’s Emeka Egbuka would be a smart choice because he’s a Chris Godwin clone.

Then Bucs’ in-house video was recently released of the 2025 draft process, where Bucs suits, including Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht, before the draft, all noted how Egbuka reminded them of Godwin.

On the first day of rookie minicamp this spring, with the same draft class as Egbuka, one defender stood out to Joe as a potential player. That was third-round pick Jacob Parrish.

Asked about Parrish yesterday, Bucs assistant general manager Rob McCartney noted Parrish has been making plays since his first practice at One Buc Palace.

“It’s been great,” McCartney said of Parrish’s progress. “He was kind of like that since Day 1 of rookie minicamp. [He had] another great practice today. We just keep stacking days and that’s all we can ask from him right now.

“He’s had really good practices and really good in-stadium stuff, too. I think he’s ready to go. We’re obviously very excited about him.”

This Parrish always seems to be around the ball. We don’t know if he will ever be an interception king but aside from that, Parrish appears to have the makings of a ballhawk. He’s in position to make plays, including picks.

Hard to get picks if you are not in position to get one.

Egbuka has been the breakout star for the Bucs’ rookies in training camp, no doubt. But on defense, Parrish is the guy who is making noise.
