Clubs now have just a matter of days to complete their summer transfer business with the window closing at 7pm on Monday, 1 September.
Leeds United are expected to be active in the final days as they look to put the final touches to their Premier League squad. Noah Okafor became the club’s ninth new arrival of the window on Thursday, with the winger signing a four year contract at Elland Road.
The winger will look to follow Lukas Nmecha in making an instant impact with the Whites when the club take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in Saturday evening’s 5.30pm kick-off.
While preparations for that game continue, work also continues behind the scenes as the club look to continue to add to their squad.
With that in mind, here is a look at some of the latest stories doing the rounds with our own thoughts also added.
James Justin update
Leeds United have been given a potential boost in their hopes of signing Leicester City full-back James Justin this summer, with an injury update given on the player.
The Whites were in advanced talks over a transfer, but that was put in doubt when the defender suffered an injury during last week’s Championship clash against Preston North End.
It has however been confirmed by Foxes boss Marti Cifuentes that he suffered a dead leg and may even be available for the weekend.
Speaking in a press conference, via LeicestershireLive he said: “It was just a dead leg, a kick on his quad. He was in a lot of pain so his mobility was reduced over the first days of the week. He’s progressing. We’re going to take a decision [on his inclusion vs Charlton] tomorrow.”
LeedsLive says : The fact that the injury is not a serious one is good news for Leeds, meaning that they could probably push on with the transfer if they wish to do so. While there is no guarantee that the full-back will feature for Leicester this weekend, the problem shouldn’t keep him ot for more than a couple of weeks at most.
Transfer enquiry
Leeds United have made a transfer enquiry for Stuttgart striker Ermedin Demirovic, according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.
The journalist says that the forward is a name to keep an eye on in the final days of the transfer window. Nottingham Forest are also said to be showing an interest in the 27-year-old, with the player ‘only willing to consider top offers’.
LeedsLive say : Daniel Farke has made no secret of his desire on strengthening his attack this summer. Demirovic had a decent Bundesliga record last season, scoring 15 goals in 34 appearances.
With Patrick Bamford expected to move on before the end of the window, bringing in another striker to help Joel Piroe and Lukas Nmecha would be a good move for Leeds.
Defender interest
Leeds are showing an interest in Bournemouth defender James Hill, according to Sky Sports.
The 23-year-old is into the final year of his deal with the Cherries. He is mainly a centre-back but can also play at right back.
It’s reported that the player is one of the options being looked at by Leeds.
LeedsLive says: With the defender being in the final year of his deal at the Vitality Stadium, he could potentially be available for a reduced price. His versatility will also be a plus for Leeds if he does complete a move to Elland Road.
