Leeds United submit enquiry for one of Europe’s best marksmen – player open to offers

Leeds United kicked off their Premier League campaign with a huge win over Everton at Elland Road. The Whites achieved a feat that had not been touched for the last 17 years.

Despite the win, and a goal from new boy Lukas Nmecha, Leeds boss Daniel Farke has still been vocal about new signings. The club confirmed their ninth signing of the season in Noah Okafor on Thursday. Later in the day during the press conference, Farke said a few more attackers are expected:

”We might need an addition. We’ve also spoken before the two signings that we would strengthen our offence. Let’s see if we do add even more to the offence, one or two more signings would be beneficial. Right now, with the signings of Dominic and Noah, the big pressure is away and we can concentrate right now on working with the boys, but I wouldn’t rule out one or two more signings on the offence.”

However, it is unlikely that Leeds sees a new arrival before the Arsenal game.

The Whites seem to have their sights on Stuttgart striker Ermedin Demirovic. Florian Plettenburg has reported that Leeds and Nottingham Forest have made enquiries about the player ahead of the transfer deadline.

Stuttgart could be open to sell, but for the right fee. Demirovic joined the Bundesliga club for around £22.5million last year.

Striker could consider exit

The Bosnian is said to be open to staying in Germany, however, he would not turn down a big opportunity. Despite being the club’s top scorer in the league last season, he is not first choice – often making cameos off the bench.

There is belief that a team with an automatic first team berth could convince him.

Is four strikers too much for Leeds?

Leeds already have Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Lukas Nmecha and Joel Piroe under contract. Would Demirovic be necessary? Well, considering the injury records of Nmecha and Calvert-Lewin, Leeds might end up relying on Piroe alone just like last season.

A big money signing to be the fourth striker is not ideal, but Demirovic would clearly compete for the starting spot if he joined the Whites.
