The Sunderland first team trio who could leave in final week of transfer window

REGIS Le Bris hasn't ruled out a Sunderland exit for Alan Browne this month - and says a loan move for Leo Hjelde is also "possible", despite the fact the defender is currently out injured.

A temporary move could also still be sanctioned for Jenson Seelt in the final week of the window, even though the young Dutch defender started the first game of the season against West Ham.

Sunderland are working to offload a number of players who don't feature in Le Bris' plans, with the likes of Hemir, Ian Poveda, Abdoullah Ba and Timothée Pembele all available to leave the club if buyers can be found.

But a few players who were part of the first team fold last season could also move on.

Browne, who joined as a free agent from Preston last summer, featured in 22 Championship games in his first season at the Stadium of Light, but the influx of midfielders this summer has pushed the 30-year-old down the pecking order.

Browne wasn't named in the squad for the West Ham opener, with Harrison Jones preferred on the bench, and Le Bris has sat down with the Ireland international this week to discuss the best course of action ahead of the September 1 deadline.

"We had this conversation with him, about game time and what he needs for the best future for him," admitted the head coach.

"It's an open conversation and we will see next week."

Hjelde is in a similar situation. The former Leeds defender is currently out injured, but game-time will be hard to come by when he's fully it again.

Hjelde had the chance to leave Sunderland on loan in January but opted to stay and fight for his place, and the 21-year-old is a key figure in the dressing room.

Hjelde could still be part of Le Bris' longer term plans at Sunderland, but the head coach admits the opportunity to play regular football this season could benefit everyone.

"Leo made a really strong decision last year to help the team," said Le Bris.

"Even if he wasn't involved in many games during the training sessions, at the end he helped the squad.

"We can decide together whether he can find a solution to have more game time. If it's possible for him it could be useful for his career and for us later. We'll decide next week."

Seelt started against West Ham and could keep his place at Burnley tomorrow, but with Omar Alderete and Nordi Mukiele having strengthened the backline, and the Black Cats still looking to add one more defender, a loan for the 22-year-old is "possible".

Nectar Triantis is also unlikely to stay at Sunderland beyond the deadline.

Asked about exits, Le Bris said: "The flow of this transfer window is always a bit weird.

"Sometimes it's really slow. Probably next week many movements will appear, so we'll have different options.

"They want to leave and get game-time next season so we'll see."
