Leeds United insider says Manor Solomon transfer can only be sanctioned on one condition

The new Premier League season has kicked off, and Leeds United are still being linked to Manor Solomon. The Spurs loanee helped the club win promotion, and scored the goal that helped them lift the title.

A deal for the forward looked close when the season ended, but then Marseille came in with a failed attempt. In the middle of pre-season, Solomon decided to stay and fight for his place. But he failed to feature in pre-season for Spurs, and missed out on their matchday squad. Reports are now heavily suggesting that he could consider a return to Elland Road.

“Leeds are in a tricky position though because they do need to strengthen.” Mick Brown said to Football Insider.

“He’s somebody the manager knows and he knows how he fits in the squad, so there won’t be the same issues as they might find with somebody else.

“If they’re going to move for Solomon, I think they’ll be preparing to make an offer soon.”

With the recent links, The Athletic’s Beren Cross also gave his take on what could happen in this final week of transfers. According to him, a move for the 25-year old can only be facilitated if Leeds move one of their current options out wide. The club have not made contact over a deal, and no discussions have been held.

With the arrival of Noah Okafor, there now seems to be too many options for two slots down the flanks.

If the Whites are to attempt to sign Solomon, one of the current options could leave on loan, or a permanent deal.

Who could leave for Manor Solomon to be signed?

Leeds currently have Jack Harrison, Dan James, Wilfried Gnonto, Noah Okafor and Largie Ramazanie battling it out for both wide spots. A brief glance makes the option quite obvious – it will be down to Harrison and Ramazani.

James and Gnonto proved their worth in the Championship, while Ramazanie did not feature much. Leeds could also easily change plans and sell Harrison, who was on the fringes of the squad before pre-season.
