Nottingham Forest have been working on a move for Sevilla’s José Ángel Carmona this summer.
On Thursday, we covered claims from Spain that Nottingham Forest’s David Carmo could be included as part of the deal for the right-back. It was also said Evangelos Marinakis’ good ties with Sevilla sporting director Antonio Cordón would be key.
Later that day, Estadio Deportivo reported Nuno Espírito Santo’s side have reached an agreement with Sevilla, but Carmona needs to be convinced.
Friday’s edition of Diario de Sevilla reports the 23-year-old is ‘very reluctant’ to join the Reds as his desire is to continue and succeed with the Andalusian club.
‘Is it ruled out? 100% not, but it’s complicated,’ a source close to him told Diario de Sevilla.
The Spaniard’s reluctance has ‘put the brakes’ on Sevilla’s plan to raise funds and make room in their wage bill to register players.
Sevilla have an agreement with Nottingham Forest for €9m plus €2m in bonuses. They are pushing Carmona towards the Premier League club by trying to convince him to change his stance.
Over at Mundo Deportivo, they also report an agreement in place between Sevilla and Forest.
It’s claimed a move to the Premier League is a ‘step up’ for Carmona and he ‘doesn’t mind leaving’ Sevilla. Nottingham Forest have offered him a five-year contract and Mundo say he’s analysing it with his agent.
This report contradicts Diario de Sevilla’s claim a little, and gives more hope to Nottingham Forest and Sevilla to complete this operation.
