Newcastle United have made contact with Chelsea over the last couple of days over a potential move for striker Nicolas Jackson, according to reports.
The Magpies are keen to add to their attacking options before the end of the window, even without the saga surrounding Alexander Isak. The Sweden international is currently training on his own as he pushes for a move to Liverpool.
With Isak currently available and Callum Wilson having left the club at the end of his contract this summer, Anthony Gordon has started the season as the central option for Newcastle.
Eddie Howe will be keen to add at least one new striker to his squad before the end of the window. Several names have been linked with a move, with the latest being Jackson.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has now provided the latest on a potential move for the Senegal international, who is ‘definitely set’ to leave Chelsea this window.

He says that Newcastle, along with German giants Bayern Munich have both ‘called’ Chelsea over the last few days. Aston Villa are also in the race with the club pushing for a transfer that will see Jackson reunited with former manager Unai Emery.
It is not said how much a deal could cost, however previous reports have claimed that Chelsea are looking for a fee of around £60 million. It’s also been claimed that the Blues could be open to a loan deal with an obligation or option to buy at the end, although they will want a significant loan fee for that to happen.
Jackson has been with Chelsea for two years after completing a move from Villarreal in the summer of 2023. In that time he has scored 30 goals in 81 appearances in all competitions for the club, helping them to win the UEFA Conference League and the Club World Cup last season.
