The latest Man Utd transfer news and gossip in the final weeks of the summer window.

Rasmus Hojlund would prefer to leave Manchester United on a loan move with an obligation to make it permanent next summer, rather than a temporary loan exit that could see him return to the club.

The 22-year-old has always wanted to fight for his future at Old Trafford, but reluctantly accepts it would be in his best interests to leave the club before deadline day of the summer window. Hojlund was an unused substitute in the final pre-season friendly fixture against Fiorentina and was left out of the squad entirely for the opening day defeat to Arsenal last weekend.

Napoli are the latest side the express an interest in a potential loan deal for Hojlund, and if he agrees to leave the club, he would want some security over his future. United sources have reiterated that they can't force a player to agree to a transfer and that Hojlund will only leave if the proposal is attractive to him.

Romano issues Hojlund update

Manchester United are clear Rasmus Hojlund does not have a future under head coach Ruben Amorim and have deemed him surplus to requirements this summer. It is understood the club would be prepared to sanction a full sale for £30 million and could even accept a lower fee as part of an obligation to buy him next summer.

Fabrizio Romano reiterated those transfer plans and provided an update on the striker's situation as we enter the final few days of the European transfer window. "Hojlund always wanted to stay at Man United," Romano said in his latest YouTube video. "Wanted to stay, wanted to continue, wanted to fight for his place. He said in public it was also the feeling internally at Manchester United. Then, Ruben Amorim sent a clear message. Zero minutes against Fiorentina, not even in the squad against Arsenal, now Hojlund has to go.

"For Hojlund, the preference is for loan with an obligation to buy. So a permanent move. Many people can say, he wanted to stay why does he want to go on loan with an obligation and not an option to buy? Because he wants to feel confidence in his club. Doesn't want to go on loan, then back to Man United, just spending a few months out, then return to the club. Hojlund wants to feel full confidence.

"This is the message from Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli. Napoli are interested, but the message from the player is that he wants to move on loan with an obligation. He prefers an obligation to buy. Manchester United also prefers that solution, so let's see what happens there."
