There’s a claim in the Turkish media that West Ham United midfielder Edson Álvarez will this morning fly to Istanbul ahead of his proposed transfer to Fenerbahçe.
The Mexico international was linked with a move to the Super Lig side at the start of the week and things have progressed quickly over the past couple of days.
Yesterday it was reported the two clubs had come to an agreement for the 27-year-old as Jose Mourinho looks to sign an experienced defensive midfielder before the transfer window closes.
[Sporx](https://www.sporx.com/edson-alvarez-fenerbahce-icin-geliyor-SXHBQ1129186SXQ) now report the West Ham player will be arriving in Turkey at 2pm local time as he looks to complete his move to the Yellow Canaries. The formalities of a medical will be undertaken before he’s officially announced as a Fener player.
Recent reports say Fenerbahçe will initially take Álvarez on loan for a fee of €2m after getting an agreement with the Hammers. The Istanbul club will then have the option to make his stay permanent next summer for a reported €22m.
Álvarez made 31 appearances in all competitions last season and is contracted to West Ham until June 2028.
Now he’ll hope there’s a welcoming party for him at the airport, as there often is for new Fenerbahçe players.
