Héctor Fort seems to be getting closer to finalizing his Barcelona departure as the young full-back missed Friday’s training session, according to reports from Catalan media.
Fort is no longer part of Hansi Flick’s plans for this season, but Barça don’t plan to sell and are only interested in a straight loan deal to allow the 19-year-old to play regular football and develop into a better overall player once he returns to the squad next year.
Plenty of clubs have been linked with a move for Fort, but Diario SPORT claim West Ham United seem to be the team best positioned to finalize a deal with Barça in the coming hours. Mallorca also have shown interest, but are still waiting to reach agreement with Sevilla to sell right-back Pablo Maffeo and might run out of time as the Catalans want to secure Fort’s exit as soon as possible.
The full-back’s departure would allow Barça to clear enough salary cap space to register Gerard Martín in time for Saturday’s La Liga trip to Levante, though Oriol Romeu’s imminent contract termination would also help in that matter.
