Man City manager Pep Guardiola “wants” to secure the signature of Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma by any means necessary, according to journalist Alfredo Pedulla.
Writing in an ‘exclusive’ on his website, Pedulla suggested that Guardiola would be prepared to wait until next summer to sign the Italian international “on a free transfer”.
The Cityzens are still hoping to buy Donnarumma before the summer transfer window shuts, but there is believed to be a significant gap to bridge between City and PSG’s valuations of the keeper.

Pedulla claims that the European champions are currently demanding a fee between €45m and €50m, despite the fact that the 26-year-old’s contract expires in June next year.
Discussions are taking place between Man City and PSG
It is believed that the two teams have been in direct talks over the past two days about Donnarumma, so there is clearly a desire to get a deal done now.
Of course, PSG won’t be keen on letting such a valuable player leave for nothing, so City feel that a compromise of some sort can be reached.
Ederson’s situation could complicate matters
One important factor to consider is the future of City’s current number one. Ederson has reportedly been the subject of a bid from Galatasaray. However, the €10m (£8.6m) proposal has fallen well short of the Brazilian’s €25m (£21.6m) price tag.
The delay in Ederson’s departure will impact the move for Donnarumma. Considering Guardiola has already expressed his dissatisfaction about the size of the first-team squad, he won’t be keen on a new keeper being signed before a sale has been sanctioned.
Of course, funds raised from Ederson could also be used to partly finance City’s offer for Donnarumma, so there are a lot of moving parts to this deal.
