BEGINNINGS – The Erie Canal’s 200th anniversary inspires an old-fashioned canal-era market from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Buffalo’s oldest market site on land donated by War of 1812 hero Gen. Peter B. Porter at the corner of Niagara and Amherst streets. Along with vendors, there will be traditional folk performers Yellow Jack and Tyler Bagwell, a walking tour led by Explore Buffalo’s Mary Durlak, 19th century games and a hay wagon tour of Lower Black Rock.
