Daniel Farke, the Leeds United manager, has pledged that his team "won't sell our DNA" when they face Premier League title contenders Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium this Saturday.
Arsenal are heavily favoured to secure their second victory of the season in their first home game, following a hard-fought 1-0 win last week at Old Trafford. Meanwhile, Leeds celebrated their return to the top flight with a win over Everton on Monday.
Last season, Farke's squad led the pack in goals scored (95), touches in the opposition box, possession and high turnovers, all contributing to their Sky Bet Championship title win.
Despite the significant gap between the Premier League and the second tier, the German manager has been making minor adjustments rather than completely overhauling his strategy.
Farke stated: "We won't sell our DNA in the Premier League this season and park the bus. If you just try to defend for 96 minutes or whatever you have no chance to survive there.
"You have to make sure you have as many periods as possible where you also control the ball and can recover with possession, and let them shift and waste some energy against the ball."
He acknowledged the challenge of playing at the Emirates, especially in Arsenal's first home game, but emphasised the importance of creating opportunities and playing positive football.

"It's important to try to create chances, to scare them and try to play positive football, but there will be periods where we suffer and we have to be well structured and compact," he said.
Farke has already recognised the daunting challenge confronting Leeds this season following the relegation of all six clubs promoted to the Premier League over the past two campaigns.
He also acknowledged that top-flight fixtures don't come much tougher than welcoming Arsenal for their opening home match.
"They have the highest ambitions, the highest demands," Farke said. "They want to play for every title, they're one of the strongest opponents you can meet.
"We know it's a tough place to go, especially in their first home game, when they can concentrate on this game, no Champions League to distract them.
"You would wish to have this fixture on a different date, but sometimes you can't choose and it's our toughest test so far."
Leeds must attempt to defy expectations without skipper Ethan Ampadu, who will remain sidelined until after the international break following knee ligament damage sustained in Monday's 1-0 triumph at Elland Road.
Ilia Gruev appears the natural replacement after the Bulgaria midfielder came off the substitutes' bench against Everton, though summer acquisition Sean Longstaff offers alternative possibilities.
"Ethan is a big miss," Farke added. "There's no doubt about this. We don't have to lie and to sugarcoat the situation.
"But we have players in our squad who interpret the role slightly differently and we will find the solutions."
Swiss winger Noah Okafor, who recently completed his £18million transfer from AC Milan, could make an appearance, and Slovenian defender Jaka Bijol, another summer signing, may also debut following a suspension.
