Birmingham City reach agreement to land Liverpool attacker, says Fabrizio Romano

Birmingham City have reached an agreement to sign Liverpool attacker Lewis Koumas on loan, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Birmingham City are poised to land the forward on a temporary basis. BCFC have made a decent start to life back in the Championship following their promotion from League One.

Koumas, 19, spent the last campaign on loan with Stoke City and scored six goals in 49 appearances in all competitions for the Potters. The Liverpool Echo claim Sheffield United and Wrexham want him, along with Hull City, Norwich City and Preston North End.

However, in this latest update regarding his situation, reporter Romano has claimed on X that the Blues are poised to win the race for his signature. He is now set for a medical with the Midlands outfit.

Wales head coach Craig Bellamy told The Guardian last year: “With Lewis, every bit I’ve seen of him, I’ve just loved. Fearless. He’s one of those players who just, every time he has it, you feel like something’s going to happen, something positive happens. “They’re the players you would love to coach or you’d love to just go and watch. I’m sure he would have looked at Aaron (Ramsey) for a number of years as well.”

Birmingham City close in on Lewis Koumas

Birmingham City will see Koumas as someone to boost their attacking ranks. He will give BCFC more competition and depth up top, assuming a deal gets over the line.

The Wales international, who has six caps to his name so far, started his career at Tranmere Rovers. He then switched to Liverpool as a youngster and hasn’t looked back since.

Where will Lewis Koumas fit in at Birmingham City?

Birmingham City have until the deadline on Monday 1st September to bring in more signings. BCFC have been active on the recruitment front throughout the summer since sealing their return from the third tier.

Koumas will inject even more quality into their forward department. He is a bright talent who showed what he can do at Stoke City last term.

The Blues have four points on the board from their first two outings. They drew 1-1 with Ipswich Town in their first game before winning 2-1 against Blackburn Rovers last time out. Davies’ men are back in action this weekend against Oxford United at home as they go in search of another three points.
