With just nine days remaining in the summer transfer window, Manchester United and their rivals don’t have too much time remaining to add the finishing touches to their squad.

United have been fairly successful so far in the window. They have completed the captures of forwards Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, spending almost £200 million in the process.

Ruben Amorim will be keen to add to his squad more between now and the September 1 deadline, with midfield an area he hopes to strengthen. To do so, they may have to raise funds through sales.

A loan deal that has seen Marcus Rashford join Barcelona has saved United on wages, but has not recouped money which could be used on incomings. Players such as Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho who are expected to move and bring in some funds are yet to leave the club.

Sancho has reportedly turned down a move to Serie A side Roma, while Chelsea continue to show an interest in Garnacho.

Another player who has been linked with a move away from the club is striker Rasmus Hojlund. The Dane was not included in the matchday squad for last weekend’s Premier League opener against Arsenal, fueling speculation over his future.

Several clubs have been linked with an interest in the player this summer, with United willing to accept a fee of around £30 million. Napoli are the latest club to be linked, with the Italian side reported to have held talks over a possible move.

While it has been mentioned that a deal could be a loan deal, Hojlund is said to be keen on it including an obligation to buy at the end of the season. The Manchester Evening News reported earlier this month that the forward is resigned to leaving United with Sesko having come in.

If United can get Napoli to agree to a £30 million obligation, it could potentially allow them to do more incoming business, in the knowledge that funds are coming before the end of the current financial year.

The latest midfielder to be linked with a move is Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller. The 24-year-old is reported to be on the list of options for United this summer, with Transfermarkt valuing him at around €45 million (£38.9m).

Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton has also been touted for a move to Old Trafford. The England international, 21, has impressed since making the step up to the Premier League last year and is valued at around £60 million.

Carlos Baleba is another target but United are willing to wait to fund a deal for the Cameroonian, with Brighton having put a price tag of around £100 million on him.

Therefore getting around £30 million for Hojlund would go a long way to funding a potential move for a midfielder in the final days of the window. The one sale could have a domino impact on business before the deadline.
