Fulham vs Man Utd Prediction: Will Red Devils Continue Excellent Record at Craven Cottage?

We look ahead to Sunday’s Premier League game at Craven Cottage with our Fulham vs Man Utd prediction and preview. Can the Red Devils make it nine wins in a row away to the Cottagers?

Fulham vs Man Utd Stats: The Key Insights

Manchester United are predicted to make it nine consecutive wins away to Fulham, coming out on top in 44.1% of Opta supercomputer simulations.

Fulham ended 2024-25 on a run of three consecutive home Premier League defeats, last losing more in a row when they lost their final six home games in 2020-21.

Ruben Amorim has suffered 15 Premier League defeats in just 28 games as Man Utd manager (W7 D6), with Spurs the only current side who’ve lost more games than the Red Devils since Amorim’s first game in charge (17).

There was a lot of positivity around Manchester United after last weekend’s display against Arsenal, albeit in defeat. They will look to secure their first points of the season on Sunday at Craven Cottage when they travel to take on Fulham.

It’s hard to convince any set of fans that they should feel positive after an opening-day loss at home to a rival, no less fans of a club with 20 top-flight titles to their name. But given the level of performances that United fans have been accustomed to in recent times, they really should be impressed with their team’s display in their 1-0 defeat to Arsenal last week.

Go deeper:

If not for a goalkeeping error from Altay Bayindir, Man Utd showed they had more than enough quality to take at least a point from the game, with the hosts in control for the majority of the encounter.

Game-state is of course relevant here given Arsenal took the lead in the 13th minute through Riccardo Calafiori, but the Gunners were restricted to just 0.28 expected goals in open play, and it took some customary heroics from David Raya to deny debut goals for Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, who both slotted seamlessly into Man Utd’s new-look attack.

Man Utd vs Arsenal Zones of Control

Leny Yoro and Patrick Dorgu made evident they are both capable of having long and successful careers in Manchester, while even Casemiro and Matthijs de Ligt, two players whose performances were questioned plenty last season, proved they can remain integral members of the squad.

It was still another loss for the Red Devils, though. Ruben Amorim has now suffered 15 Premier League defeats in just 28 games as Man Utd manager (W7 D6), with Tottenham Hotspur the only current side in the competition to have lost more games since Amorim’s first game in charge (17).

The overriding feeling is of positivity after last week, though, which has become an unusual stance in the Man Utd realm. For that reason it feels as though there is additional pressure to prove something has genuinely changed by beating Fulham on Matchday 2.

United have an excellent record in this fixture, having won each of their last eight away games against Fulham in the Premier League. They have never won nine in a row against an opponent in their league history.

The Cottagers are themselves looking to put to bed a curiously poor run of home form, having lost each of their final three games at Craven Cottage last season; boss Marco Silva has never previously lost four consecutive home league games in his entire managerial career.

Fulham started their season with a 1-1 draw away to Brighton, which is a perfectly fine result, but perhaps also showcased why their fans are concerned about a lack of movement in the transfer market. Their point came courtesy of a 97th-minute equaliser from super-sub Rodrigo Muniz, who continues to be linked with a move away in the closing days of the transfer window.

Fulham have signed just one player this summer, and that was a €500,000 outlay for Benjamin Lecomte, their new understudy for starting goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

The money appears to be being kept ready for a big move for Brazilian winger Kevin from Shakhtar Donetsk, whom the Cottagers are reportedly ready to make their record signing, surpassing the £34 million they spent on Emile Smith Rowe last summer.

The performance of young midfielder Josh King against Brighton did highlight that it’s possible to promote from within, with the 18 year-old proving in just his second league start that he’s ready to make an impact at this level despite his tender age.

Josh King Among FPL GW2 Differentials:

Amorim has the question of whether to bring out-of-favour goalkeeper André Onana back in for Bayindir, while he could hand a first start to striker Benjamin Sesko after the Slovenian came off the bench against Arsenal last week to make his debut.

Fulham vs Man Utd Head-to-Head

Fulham have won just one of their last 19 Premier League games against Manchester United (D3 L15), beating them 2-1 at Old Trafford in February 2024.

Man Utd have won just three of their last 23 Premier League away games against London sides (D5 L15), though all of those victories came against Fulham.

The last four Premier League meetings between Fulham and Man Utd have seen a winning goal scored in the 78th minute or later, with all six goals in games between the teams in the last two seasons coming in the second half. It was one of only two fixtures played four times across 2023-24 and 2024-25 without a first-half goal, along with Everton vs West Ham.

Fulham vs Man Utd Prediction

The Opta supercomputer regards Manchester United as favourites in this encounter, giving them a 44.1% chance of making it nine straight away wins at Craven Cottage.

Fulham still have a decent shot at victory, winning in 30.4% of simulations, while the likelihood of a draw is 25.5%.
