"Working on a deal": Man Utd now in active talks for 23yo Belgian star - Journalist

Manchester United are in ‘active talks’ to sign Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens, according to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Red Devils had Altay Bayindir in goal for the Premier League curtain-raiser against Arsenal at Old Trafford last weekend.

Andre Onana was available after his hamstring injury, but manager Ruben Amorim trusted Bayindir between the sticks. The former was not in the matchday squad.

Romano now reports that the Red Devils are still ‘working on a deal’ to sign Lammens.

Personal terms are ‘almost agreed’ and talks are underway for the Belgian shot-stopper.

United are reportedly pushing for the player amid interest from French and Italian clubs.

Lammens would be a top-class signing for United

The 23-year-old had a wonderful breakthrough season with Antwerp last term.

Lammens made 40 appearances in the Belgian top-flight. He averaged 4.4 saves per game with an accuracy of 77 percent.

The shot-stopper also managed more than seven long balls per outing and was also brilliant on penalties, saving four spot kicks.

Lammens has all the attributes to become an elite goalkeeper, and we are not surprised that United are pushing to land him.

Inter Milan have also expressed an interest in Lammens, while there could be more proposals on the table before the deadline.

The Red Devils must be proactive in their pursuit. They need to persuade the player to join them amid interest from elsewhere.

Lammens could be signed for a bargain fee of around £17 million. His arrival could pave the way for the exit of Onana or Bayindir.

Judging by Onana’s absence versus Arsenal, the Cameroon international could be on his way out before the transfer window closes.
