Crystal Palace’s attempts to sign Club Brugge defender Joel Ordoñez may have been made more difficult by Chelsea star Moises Caicedo.
That’s [according to Voetbal Primeur](https://www.voetbalprimeur.be/nieuws/1684837/ordo-ez-twijfelt-tussen-marseille-en-crystal-palace.html), who report that the Chelsea midfielder has been dishing out advice to his Ecuadorian teammate, which isn’t helping Crystal Palace’s cause.
They explain that Ordoñez’s future at Club Brugge remains highly uncertain as Marseille and Crystal Palace battle for him this summer.
The Eagles see him as the ideal successor to Marc Guehi, who has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool this summer.
The problem is that Ordoñez seems to prefer Marseille. Indeed, he is being guided towards the French club by international teammate Moises Caicedo.
That’s because the Chelsea midfielder worked with Marseille manager Roberto de Zerbi at Brighton and has been singing the Italian’s praises to Ordoñez. He believes he would contribute significantly to the young defender’s development and has, seemingly, advised him to move there.
Crystal Palace aren’t giving up, though. They have the necessary financial resources to meet Brugge’s asking price. That’s a plus for them as negotiations with Marseille have been stuck on that point for some time.
Thus, they’re still in the mix and the coming days promise to be decisive, even if Caicedo has not done them any favours.
