Monaco’s Breel Embolo was not part of the club’s squad for their Ligue 1 opener against Le Havre last week. There are indications he is on the move from the French club and West Ham are emerging as a suitor.
Agent Gianluca Di Domenico spoke to Stile TV about the Switzerland international and revealed that the Hammers are competing with Napoli for Embolo.
He said, as relayed by CalcioNapoli24: “Embolo is the right fit for Napoli. [Sporting director] Manna knows Swiss players very well, even those who aren’t top-tier.”
Speaking of interest from West Ham, the Italian said: “West Ham are also very interested in Embolo. He’s on the market, and by not calling him up, his club, Monaco, has made it clear they’re just waiting for an offer to sell him.”
Signing Embolo could be an interesting opportunity for Graham Potter’s side. The 28-year-old’s current contract runs out in the summer of 2026 and he is unlikely to cost too much.
Embolo scored six times in Ligue 1 last season and added five assists, that was in 1800 minutes across 29 matches.
The Swiss attacker can also operate in wide positions but centre-forward is his preferred role. As of now, West Ham have multiple striker options and offloading one would likely to required if this move is to make sense.
