Ben Jacobs: Man Utd now eyeing move to sign ‘unbelievable’ midfielder in late swoop

Manchester United are considering a late summer swoop for Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller, GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs has revealed.

The Red Devils have earmarked the Germany international as a potential option in their midfielder search, with internal discussions ongoing over several different names.

United have yet to pinpoint their next concrete transfer target following the breakdown in talks for Brighton starlet Carlos Baleba.

Ruben Amorim’s side ended their interest in the 21-year-old after learning of Brighton’s hefty demands, which reportedly stand at around £120m.

The Old Trafford side are also keeping tabs on the goalkeeping market with less than two weeks left until the transfer deadline, with Royal Antwerp star Senne Lammens remaining an option.

Jacobs, writing on X, revealed that there is no guarantee Man United will move for a new midfielder following their failed pursuit of Baleba, but internal discussions are taking place over several potential targets.

Stiller’s name is believed to have come up in those talks, with Man United now expected to decide whether to sign a new midfielder before the transfer deadline on 1 September.

Stiller has emerged as one of the most exciting young defensive midfielders in Europe during his two seasons with Stuttgart.

The 'unbelievable' 24-year-old joined the Bundesliga club from Hoffenheim in the summer of 2023 and quickly established himself as a key player in the middle of the park, helping Stuttgart win the German Cup last term.

Stuttgart will be in a strong negotiating position if Man United decide to move for Stiller, as he signed a new contract extension in January, keeping him at the club until June 2028.

Man United have spent around £200m on new signings in Amorim’s first summer so far, including an initial £66m on RB Leipzig ace Benjamin Sesko.

Deals were also struck for Premier League aces Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, with the trio of forwards all featuring in United’s 1-0 loss to Arsenal last weekend.
