Graham Potter is coming under increasing pressure as West Ham boss after failing to improve his side’s fortunes.

Potter replaced Julen Lopetegui midway through last season, but failed to inspire much improvement in what was a miserable campaign for the Hammers.

This season has also started badly for West Ham after they were thrashed 3-0 by Sunderland in their opening game, and fans are far from happy.

West Ham may not wish to fall into a cycle of hiring and firing managers quickly, but Potter could find he is given the boot very soon after some surprising news coming out of Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest could sack Nuno Espirito Santo

It has now been reported that Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest are considering sacking manager Nuno Espirito Santo, in what would be a shocking decision.

Nuno led Forest back to Europe last season, finishing in 6th place after punching above their weight for the entire campaign.

The 51-year-old led Wolves to a top-half finish and the Europa League quarter-finals in his spell there.

Matteo Moretto reported via X on 22 August that Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is considering sacking the manager, after he criticised their transfer business.

If he goes ahead with this decision, there will be plenty of sympathy for Nuno after the remarkable job he has done, and this could spell trouble for Potter at West Ham.

Potter’s days at the London Stadium could be numbered, but right now, there is a lack of an obvious replacement. If Nuno becomes available, then West Ham could make a ruthless decision.

Nuno Espirito Santo could be perfect for West Ham

Aside from one failed spell at Tottenham, Nuno has achieved remarkable things with Wolves and Forest, and he could be exactly what West Ham needs right now.

The Portuguese coach has shown his tactical adaptability as well as his ability to get the best out of the players at his disposal. Forest finished in the bottom half prior to his arrival, but he inspired them to challenge for a Champions League spot.

The West Ham squad has put in dismal showings under Potter, but Nuno could be the perfect manager to get the best out of them.

Niclas Fullkrug could certainly benefit from Nuno taking over at West Ham, after the coach got the best out of Wood and Raul Jimenez in the past, and the striker could come alive after a very underwhelming year.

It remains to be seen whether David Sullivan will make such a ruthless decision, but Potter will be aware that a highly rated Premier League manager could be available in the coming weeks, and if he does not improve results soon, he could find himself on the chopping block.
