Manchester United are set to appoint Imtiaz Ahmad as the club’s head of medical services.
Ahmad is currently serving his notice at Crystal Palace and his start date will be confirmed in due course. He is set to succeed Gary O'Driscoll, who currently remains in his post to ensure a smooth transition.
Club sources have said they are pleased to have secured 'another high-quality addition' to their medical team, which has undergone significant change in the last 18 months.
United's performance director, Sam Erith, has overseen the changes and was key to Ahmad's appointment.
Earlier this year, it emerged that O'Driscoll (head of medical services) and Jim Moxon (first-team doctor) were set to leave. The pair are well-respected within the medical industry and both chose to depart.
O'Driscoll arrived at Old Trafford from Arsenal to become head of sports medicine in September 2023. His next steps remain to be seen, but Moxon accepted a role as the No.1 first-team doctor at Brighton.
First-team physio David Binningsley has also left and Harry Maguire thanked him for his service.
Erith has led the changes in the medical department and presided over new appointments. He joined United last September after working for Manchester City for 11 years in different roles.
Erith was reportedly targeted by former United sporting director Dan Ashworth, but he has links with Jason Wilcox, who succeeded Ashworth by being promoted to director of football.
