Harvey Elliott has been an impressive player for Liverpool when called upon over the last few years.
The attacking midfielder was Jurgen Klopp’s star boy, and even though Arne Slot likely didn’t give him as much playing time as he deserved last term, there’s still a more than solid player within him.
And, even though his preferred position of attacking midfield is now likely to be occupied by Florian Wirtz and Dominik Szoboszlai, his last chance to prove his worth is as Mohamed Salah’s back-up.

However, with clubs such as Tottenham and RB Leipzig circling around Elliott for a potential summer transfer, his future is still up in the air.
Michael Dawson believes Harvey Elliott would be a good signing for Tottenham
Even though Elliott is still just 22 years old, he has plenty of Premier League experience and has proven more than once that he can hold his own.
Indeed, others such as Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones were chosen to play over him last term, but after his performance at the Under-21 Euros for England, it feels like he should be given at least one more season to prove his worth.
However, while speaking to FootballJOE, former Tottenham captain Michael Dawson gave his thoughts on whether Elliott would be a good addition for Thomas Frank’s Tottenham this season.
“[I’m a] big fan of Harvey, you know, whenever he plays for Liverpool, he never lets them down,” he said.

“And he’s probably getting to a point now where he needs to go and play some football consistently.
“And I’m sure in this window he will end up somewhere.”
Harvey Elliott must be given another chance by Arne Slot
This summer, several members of Liverpool’s first-team squad, such as Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, have been sold.
And, since no new attackers have come in after their departures, it feels like the Reds have been left a bit light up front.
Indeed, Hugo Ekitike has been brought in, and Wirtz can also be used on the left wing if needed, but there’s no hiding from the fact that another attacker is needed.
That is, unless Elliott is kept on and used as Salah’s back-up.
Indeed, Federico Chiesa currently occupies that role, but since the young Englishman can’t play as a number nine, he can be used on the wing; it makes sense for him to be Salah’s back-up.

Not only does this make sense for Elliott, but it also allows Chiesa to use his pace and his keen eye for goal to become the focal point of Slot’s attack, whenever Ekitike isn’t available or needs a rest, of course.
Only time will tell what the future has in store, but for now, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen.
