Report: Everton eyeing up a move for Championship Player of the Year nominee

Everton’s biggest issue remains finding the back of the net on a consistent basis.

David Moyes has seen a number of attacking players come through the door this summer, but there is still a feeling that more is needed.

Sunday’s game against Brighton & Hove Albion could see Jack Grealish make his full debut for the club after joining on loan from Manchester City.

The defeat on Monday against Leeds United only highlighted the lack of attacking threat that is concerning some at Everton.

New additions are being eyed, with Everton plotting a move for Tyler Dibling before the window shuts in over a week’s time.

Funds are going to be stretched over the final days of the market, and there is one target who could be set to test Everton’s wage structure.

Everton plotting move for Josh Brownhill but face big obstacle

Thierno Barry is expected to become Everton’s starting striker, yet more goals need to be added to this squad.

The Blues have already added players like Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, but a free agent addition could be on the cards.

According to iNews, Everton are interested in a potential move for the former Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill.

Earlier this summer, Brownhill became a free agent, but he is yet to find himself a new club.

The report claims that although Everton hold an interest, there are some serious concerns about his wage demands.

Everton sit in a healthy PSR position this summer, but the Blues still need to be cautious not to hinder themselves for the following transfer windows.

After passing on players like Abdoulaye Doucoure due to their high wages, Brownhill’s demands could cost him a move to Merseyside.

Brownhill scored for fun last season

Albeit in the Championship, Brownhill had no issues in finding the back of the net last season for Burnley.

The midfielder scored a stunning 18 times in the Championship, where he earned himself a nomination for the Player of the Season award.

Translating those goals into the Premier League would be difficult, but even scoring half of that return would be a huge boost for the Blues.

It has been suggested that Moyes is trying to convince Brownhill to join Everton before the window shuts.

But Everton have to be realistic with the salary they are willing to offer Brownhill, having already added Grealish this summer.
