Omar Marmoush has named the one Premier League team he hopes Manchester City beat during the 2025/26 season.
Following a very underwhelming campaign last time around, the goal for Pep Guardiola’s men this season is to win the Premier League back from Liverpool, but that looks set to be a tough challenge, as both the Reds and Arsenal have made some impressive signings over the summer.
Marmoush is a relatively new signing himself, having moved to the Etihad Stadium in January, and had a big impact on results in Manchester during the second half of the season, which has made the forward untouchable at Man City.
Although he didn’t start against Wolves, the Egyptian star will be a key figure throughout the 2025/26 campaign for Guardiola, and the 26-year-old has now named the team he would personally love to beat this season.

Omar Marmoush wants to beat Liverpool this season
Liverpool had the chance to sign Marmoush in January, but opted against the move, which could be a decision they regret further down the line after allowing Luis Diaz to depart Anfield this summer.
The Egyptian only faced the Reds once last season, which ended in a 2-0 win for the Premier League champions, a contest in which his international teammate, Mohamed Salah, opened the scoring in.

Speaking about the Egypt captain, Marmoush stated that the Liverpool star is the best player in the Premier League, before going on to say that he would love to beat the Merseyside club this season.
“[Mo] Salah was the best player in the Premier League last season, at the very, very top level for so many seasons I can’t even count. We all know what quality he has,” Marmoush told TNT Sports.
“Hugo [Ekitike] just came to Liverpool. He had a very good start to the season, and that doesn’t surprise me. I played with him in Frankfurt; he also has a lot of qualities, but hopefully, when we play against them, we can beat them.”
Man City host Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium at the start of November, before travelling to Anfield in February. Both games could be huge in the title race, which Marmoush is very aware of.

Pep Guardiola’s record against Liverpool
Guardiola heaped praise on Marmoush last season, and the legendary coach will need the forward in top form if he is to improve his poor record against Liverpool over the coming months.
The Reds have been the legendary coach’s toughest opponents throughout his career, with the Spaniard facing the Merseyside club on 24 different occasions, winning just seven, drawing seven, and losing the remaining 10.
Guardiola averages just 1.17 points per game against Liverpool and has hit the Reds for 44 goals, while conceding 42 when playing the Premier League champions.
Man City lost both games to Liverpool last season and did not even score a goal against Arne Slot’s team. That shows the magnitude of the task that faces the Manchester club this season, with Marmoush’s wish not an easy one to fulfil.
